Hit A Thon Card Update

Walmart was not available for any weekends to sell hit a thon cards but we were able to reserve Friday, April 4th. There are 2 main doors, so I’m hoping that we could split up the team. I am also thinking about having each player sell their own cards this time and taking turns on approaching people. That way each player gets a chance to sell Let me know if your player will not be able to be there. We will meet at Walmart at 4:00. I imagine that we’d be done by 7:00. We will need at least 1 parent (or coach) at each door (if we are able to sell in 2 locations) to help encourage the boys to sell and to make sure they are taking turns please have the boys wear their team jersey, jacket and hat. If you need more cards, let me know asap – I don’t have any on hand right now. If there are people out there that cannot sell what they have and feel that they won’t be able to sell them all at Walmart or after, please let me know and you can turn them in for others to use asap.

Seco 6 Overturf 0

The bats were hot enough to tame the wind tonight. The evening turned out to be quite nice for a ball game. David started the game and pitched four very strong innings keeping the Overturf batters baffled at the plate and off the base pads. Team Seco bats started early putting two runs up on the board in the first and they never looked back key hits through out the line up continued to put runs on the board. Taylor came in in the fifth inning and continued the strong pitching performance David started both finished the game with out giving up a run. Small threat in the fifth to steal second Jake made a nice throw down to second to Eric to get the runner. On a pick off at first the ball got by the first baseman but Cleveland was there coming in from right field to back up the play and keep the runner on. The game ended when a runner on third was caught between third and home and was run down and tagged by Nick for the third out of the inning. Team seco was able to preserve the shutout. The game was a well played game by Team Seco both from the plate on the mound and defensively. "Good job Team Seco"

Seco vs Overturf Game 2

Game time 5:45 pm pregame warm up 4:45 pm at west gate. We are the home team tonight Ebberts is on field duty anything you can do to help is appreciated. There has been quite a few parents jumping in to help and that has been awesome. The last game between these two teams saw us play six innings and three tie breaker innings. The last game had somewhat of a pitching duel. What to look for tonight ? Team Seco to have HOT BATS early nothing makes the dugout warmer than a team of HOT BATS. "Go Team Seco"

Seco 12 Gesa 4

WHAT IT FELT LIKE THIS AFTERNOON

Team Seco started a bit slow giving up 3 runs in the first. Gesa worked to keep the game close with some key outs. Hayden's bomb sparked the team and they soon went to work at the plate. Hits were scattered through out the line with contributions from all players. Jacob hit his first homer of the season and came at a time which put the game out of reach. Great job on bases and solid pitching from the Team Seco pitching staff. Hats off to the Team for standing out in that wind and cold. That was by far the coldest I have been at a ball game. Let us pray tomorrow will bring the temperature up and the wind down. If not I will take my own advice and dress accordingly.

Seco Vs Gesa

Seco will be the home team tonight Blake is scheduled for field duty . This a 5PM game pre game is 4PM. This cold front has put a nice spin on things make sure you dress accordingly and keep your player warm.

Seco 15 larsen transfer 3

Team Seco started the first off scoring three runs. David sat down the first three batters he faced. Team Seco broke it open in the second and third with a rally of hits and a 3 run homer from David. Taylor put a nice inning of work while Jacob and Jordan both saw time on the mound. Jordan closed the game out with a strike out a pop up to Eric who was at short and a slow chopper to short again where Eric was able to throw the runner out at first for the third out ending the game the ten run rule in effect. Very cool night out there the team played well and stayed focused through out the game. the team batted well through out the order pitching was tight and the defense played well. Good Job Team seco!

PHOTO CHANGES

After speaking to Darren some had a asked if they could upload photos themselves. I felt this was a good idea and have created a Team Seco page at Picasa with the albums there there will a email sent to you in a few days allowing you to log into the sight and you will be able to upload photos yourselves. All Iask is that we keep the photos in the albums of the games they were taken at. I will create a album for each game before the games occur and you can add them to the albums . Or if your photos are not pertinent to a game we have played you can create a album that fits your photos. I have almost completed moving all the albums over and should have completed by Friday evening. The link at the blog is still pointing to the old album sight until the emails are sent and I have finished moving the albums.

Seco Vs Larsen Transfer

This is the first meeting between these two teams. Game time 7:15 PM have your player at west gate for pregame warm up by 6:15 PM. Looks to be a cool one this evening so dress appropriately.

Players of the week

Hayden Burris and Taylor Vickerman are our players of the week of march 17th. Taylor hit a home run against Apollo breaking a 4 to 4 tie which was the game winning run. Taylor's pitching performances have been very good as has his bat . Hayden has had excellent outings on the mound ending the week against Overturf he struck out the side four straight times which is eleven straight batters he only needed two outs during his inning in the tie breaker so he only faced two batters striking both out Hayden was also responsible for keeping it a 6 to 4 game against Apollo by executing very good defense from the mound. Congrats to both of these young men as players of the week

Hit A Thon Sales at Chico's

Went well today. The team sold close to 20 cards for the team and they had lots of fun doing it. As you can see Tanner and the Team flagging cars down with signs to come into the lot to purchase cards. This Team works very well together on many levels. It was also nice to see the many parents who showed up to support the team also.

Uploaded photos of todays game. I was able to get some good action photos but had to give it up to do the book. Look through them and take what you want.

Seco 2 Overturf 3

What a dandy it was two undefeated teams going head to head great weather for baseball. Team Seco could not get going in the first. Overturf manufactured two runs in the bottom of the first the score would stay 2 to 0 until the fourth when team seco tied the game with some much needed hits and solid base running. Pitching from both teams was very good Taylor was excellent on the mound keeping the game close. Hayden was on the mound in the later innings and recorded 11 straight strike outs through the seventh. The end of the sixth with time remaining the teams must play a Kansas city tie breaker. This is where you have one out and your last recorded out from the previous inning starts on second base. We played three innings of this into the bottom of the ninth which would have been the last inning due to time. Jacob was on the mound for the last two innings throwing well. Overturf was able to manufacture one more run in the bottom of the ninth to win the game. Great game the Team showed they can play with the best and hung in through more innings than they have seen at one time in a while in a tight game. GREAT GAME TEAM SECO

Seco Vs Overturf

Pregame warm up have your player at west gate by 10 AM. Game time is 11 AM. we are visitors for this one Tanninen is on field duty after the game. We have not seen this team since the jamboree they were undefeated going into tonight against Larson Transfer. This should be a dandy. This will be our first game on the new major field.

Hit A Thon Sales at Chico's

Don’t forget to join us Saturday, March 22nd from 4-6 at Chico ’s Tacos (corner of Clearwater & Col.Cntr. Blvd). Have the boys wear their Seco Jersey and hat. We will have a card table and a few chairs as a place for them to “hang out” during the sale and Sandy Blake has made a sign for us too.
Please leave your cards at home – we have several extras that we will sell as a team and then divide up the sales as equally as possible among the boys that are there for the whole time.
This was email sent out by Kirsten.

Seco 9 Sullivan Rowell 2

Well another cool night and stellar pitching by David with 9 strike outs and Jacob stepping in middle relief and Taylor coming in to finish the top of the sixth. This was the longest game inning wise we have played yet getting a complete game in innings in. Team Seco again came through with the bats when needed and defense to keep Sullivan Rowell from advancing on the base pads. Team Seco again came through with clutch hits solid base running and excellent defense when it counted. Next up Overturf who will play Friday if they win both teams will be undefeated going into Saturday's game. Should be a excellent match up between these two teams. This will also be our first game of the season on the newly renovated major field. As Hayden said it will be a new season on the new field.

Baseball Clinic Sunday 2PM

Sunday March 30th from 2:00-5:00 members of the Kamiakin High Baseball Team will be putting on a free skills clinic for all Kennewick National Major & Minor A players who wish to attend. Sullivan Rowell Vs Seco

We are home team tonight Smith is on field duty. There has been a lot of help prepping the fields before and after the games thanks for helping out and not being afraid to jump in it makes it so much quicker. Could be another cool one tonight. Last night I left my memory cards for my camera at home so I used my pda phone and took some pictures most were ok just not as good as I would have liked will have some uploaded today. Have your player at west gate by 6:15 PM for pregame warm up game time is 7:15 PM. And remember note from the Coach's Hit-A-Thon Team Sale this Saturday – If you are available, we will have a Hit-A-Thon team sale this Saturday from 4pm-6pm at Chico’s Tacos in Kennewick. The idea is that the boys will offer cards to customers on their way in to the restaurant. Chico’s has graciously offered to provide “free taco” coupons to the customers who buy a Hit-A-Thon card. If possible, it would be really great if some of us could stay and eat dinner there to express our gratitude (and just hang out). It would be great if the kids could have some fun and sell a bunch of cards. Many thanks to Trevor for putting this together!!

Seco 6 Apollo 4

Cool one tonight as the temps dropped to the low forties with a chill in the air and very little wind thankfully. First inning brought no offense from Team Seco Apollo put two up in the bottom of the inning A great diving catch by Issac helped keep the runners in check . Second inning Team Seco came to life two run double by Eric put two on the board and he would eventually score. At the end of two it was Seco 4 Apollo 4. Top of the third Taylor hit a nice dinger to push the score to 5-4 in favor of Team Seco. Team Seco would end the top half with a 6-4 lead . That home run could not have come at a better time. Team Seco did not let the momentum swing to far Apollo's way as key plays and excellent pitching shut Apollo's big bats down when needed. With time winding down Hayden helped himself defensively by the getting first two outs of the inning fielding the ball and throwing the runners out first. David came in and shut the last batter down striking him out to end the game. This one came down to timely hits, defense and good pitching when we needed it. Next game 3/20/Seco Vs Sullivan Rowell 7:15 PM.

Coach's notes

Jackets – When you have a moment, please say thanks to Kirsten and Trevor for organizing the jackets. This was my bright idea and had I to do it over again, I probably would not do it. This has been very time consuming for Kirsten in particular. However, the kids will look good in them so hopefully that will make it worth the effort.
· Hit-A-Thon Team Sale this Saturday – If you are available, we will have a Hit-A-Thon team sale this Saturday from 4pm-6pm at Chico’s Tacos in Kennewick.
· Practice Attendance – If your player is unable to make it to practice, please let me know as far in advance as possible. I put together detailed practice plans and having a player missing can be problematic for what we are trying to accomplish at practice that night. If a player misses practice and I wasn’t notified, that player might have to sit three or more innings in the upcoming game. This isn’t a penalty to the player who missed -- it is a reward for the players who were at practice. It wouldn’t be fair to those who were at practice to have to sit while the player who missed practice got to play. Additionally, all 3 coaches (and probably numerous parents) are available to take kids to and from practice on an as needed basis. So, there shouldn’t be any instances of kids missing practices because they don’t have transportation.
· Batting Entire Lineup – KN has recently clarified a rule that Major Division teams are not allowed to bat all 12 players on the roster in a game. Teams are only allowed to bat 9 or 10 players. Technically, this is a Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken rule. Previously, I communicated that there would be games when all 12 players would be batting. Unfortunately, this will not happen due to this rule clarification.
· Practice Location – Unless communicated otherwise, practice will be at Yelm Park for the remainder of the season. However, once city softball starts we may run into problems reserving this field.
And Big THANKS does go out to Kirsten and Trevor for the jacket's and other things they organize for the team. we have been one of the only teams with complete uni's and the team feels good when they look good.

CHANGE TO PHOTOS

If you look to the right side of page you will see a link to photos which is a rss feed which stands for really simple syndication. You will need to be using a newer browser as in explorer 7 or possibly firefox or opera. They have built in readers that will allow you to click the link and go to a page with all the photo albums. This will allow me to keep the photos in a easy location and they won't be strung all the way down the page. They work the same for viewing and copying. The blog is also a feed as are the photos you can subscribe to and have in list you can choose from or you can continue to use a link to the blog through the url. If you have problems with viewing the blog or the photo link does not work for you shoot me a email and I will see if I can help.

HIT A THON CARDS

Practice today sent us running for trucks as just when we were starting the rain and hail mix came down. The team ended up at the batters box to get some swings in and some soft toss. Hit A Thon packets were handed out today at practice. The goal this year is to sell as many as possible and lead the league in this. The quicker you get out there you can the first attempt to sell to most people the other teams are looking to sell them also. Davids Father sold one to someone at the Batters Box while we were there hitting. Yet the overall goal would be all teams to sell as many as possible. So don't be shy they do have some good discounts on there including one for the Batters Box.

PLAYER'S OF THE WEEK

The first two players of the week are David Marshall and Jacob Ebberts. Congrats to these two as they combined for both a stellar pitching combo and have had hot bats to boot David with his grand slam last night and Jacob's pitching performance against Sullivan Rowell. Both have provided Team Seco with excellent defense, pitching and offense. Hats off to these two for getting the job done.

Seco 12 Gesa 1

Another solid performance from Team Seco! The bats were a bit cold at the the start with first inning score resulting in a 1-1 game. In the second inning Team Seco went to work with everyone contributing at the plate including a grand slam from David Marshall. Gesa never recovered. Team Seco's pitching was stellar with top performances from David and Hayden keeping Gesa off the bases and making quick work of there lineup. Next up Apollo Wed 3/19 7:15 PM game time.
Upcoming practices have now moved to Yelm park if you don't know where that is check right side pane of this page click on map to practice in links.
Practice's as scheduled

PICTURES

I have added a album for the latest game they will now be at the top of photo albums on the side older games will be towards the bottom of the page. The photos I managed to get from the Apollo game had a terrible amount of red eye I was able to edit most of it and tonight's game I only had to edit one photo. I will be trying to get players into photos after and before the games as much as possible. The lighter it gets for the games the more game footage I will be able to take.

Seco 12 Sullivan Rowell 2

Another cold windy march night Team Seco made it much easier for parents to endure as they started up the bats in the first with four runs crossing the plate Taylor started on the mound and had a very nice outing. Excellent defense from the field logging key outs when needed. Team Seco broke it open in the third batters legging out infield hits to Jaden laying down a great bunt and David's hit to left. Team Seco crossed the plate 8 times furring the inning. Jacob started the third recorded the outs and came back to finish the 4Th inning with three strike outs to end the game. Good pitching great defense and patient hitters have been a winning combination. I would like to add this teams base running has improved so much over last season great to see a team of very approachable players for the coach's.

VIDEO

Have been working on having video either linked or embedded here at the blog not satisfied with what I have seen so far as a solution but it is in the works. Goal is to be able to have some game excerpts edited into small video's that could be watched at random. I have put a video up of Red Green down lower on the page check it out.

Seco Vs Sullivan Rowell

Game time 7:15 PM pregame for players 6;15 PM looks like it may be a cool one tonight make sure your player dresses appropriately for the conditions. Hey lets not forget the parents bring your gear also. We are Visitors tonight so we are responsible for field prep after the game which is pulling the bases rake the field and lock the facility down. "GO TEAM SECO"

Seco 13 Apollo 3

As Trevor said after the game we have equaled our win total for last year. And yes it felt good to equal that and see the contributions from the team. Excellent pitching from David and Hayden both battled at times and made the outs that were needed David took one in the leg at a play at the plate but walked it off and came back to pitch and finish his inning. The play Jacob made for the third out stopping the chopper and the clean throw to first was sweet. We had a lot of defensive plays but catching the runner cheating off the bag from third and throwing him out was very well executed. Offensively it was a tight game until the third though we had stranded runners in the first two innings the bats came alive 6 runs in third crossed the plate score was now 8-3 in favor of Seco. The fourth inning brought 5 runs across the plate three batters were hit by pitch and nick had a shot that hit the fence. Score now Seco 13 Apollo 3 ten run rule in effect Seco wins. Excellent contributions from all the players showing good pitching good defense and patience at the plate. Some of the what was taught in practice recently was implemented in this game and the team executed those things perfectly showing the team is listening to coach's instructions. "Excellent Job team Seco"
No practice tomorrow next game Sullivan Rowell thursday 7:15 PM have your player at the field by 6:15 pM for pregame warmups

Seco ezteam site

Trevor has been working on the ezteam seco site at knyb website. I have put a shortcut in the link section to get there direct. I am not sure where all this leads but some of us enjoy communicating this way it also gives those who have relatives or friends in other locations a chance to experience the baseball season through photos and articles that they normally would not be able to experience. Again on photos take as many as you want and put them on disk for me I will put them up at the blog.

Home Opener Apollo vs Seco

You can consider this our Home opener since we are the Home team and this is our first official league game of the season. The jamboree games don't count in the standings but they are a gauge for coach's to see where there team maybe at during game situations, test there pitching and defense. No game notes for this one since we have only played a three inning game seco did win the game, hopefully the outcome will be the same in the six inning contest Tuesday. Jeff Green is in charge of field prep and we are home so anyone who wants to help and maybe first timers who would like to learn grab a rake and help out. Remember have your player at westgate by 6:15 pm for pregame warm ups.

Weather link

Added a link to the weather noaa is usually fairly accurate this time of year nice to know when to prepare for the wind a and lower temps ahead of time. link is to pendelton site which receives info direct from station at pasco airport.

Concessions Covered For Monday

Covered tonight as per email from Kirsten thanks to those that were able to separate time from there busy schedules and families. There is one more day left later in the season for all to get a chance.

Upcoming Games

Three games this week starting with
Apollo vs Seco Tuesday 3/11/08 7:15 pm we are Home so we will be prepping field pregame the more help on prepping the field the better. The field will get done faster and those who are on the sheet for that day will appreciate the help. Do not expect the visiting team to prep the field they won't do it though sometimes parents from the other team will help knowing that the faster the field is prepped the sooner the second game can start. Most parents understand we are all in the same league and the camaraderie is part of what we are there for.
Seco vs Sullivan Rowell Thursday 3/13/09 7:15 pm we are visitors you can help prep the field but the home team is responsible for the bulk of it. It does not hurt to help they may just help you next time around.
Seco vs Gesa Friday 3/14/08 5:00 pm we are visitors
One more thing on field prep we are supposed to help after the games as visitors take care of the field which means if we are the late game we close up the place and prep the field for the following days game no chalk just rake and put tools away. Between the 5 and 7 game we would simply help the next team get the field ready for the 7:00 game
I like the 7:15 games even though they are done late it gives you more time to get to the field with your player a hour ahead cannot stress enough how important it is to have your player at the field one hour early it is not for the coach's but really for the team to get the day out of there heads and be able to get focused on the game at hand. It does give the coach's time to get the team warmed up properly to avoid injury and have a better playing experience while on the field.
Concessions there was a email that went out for help in the concession stand Monday evening hopefully we have enough volunteers if you have not replied please do so the more helpers the shorter the time people have to work there shift.
The team does there work on the field the parents do their part off the field.

Practice Monday

Pratice monday 4:15 pm at Highlands Grange park looks like this is the last one before we switch to yelm park. The hats looked awesome also noticed many teams did not yet have all of there hats and some did not have Uni's yet glad to see our coach's and Team Mom's on top of it. Makes the team look good and feel good.

The Coach's

As for our Coach's this year we have Lance and Darren returning with Trevor coming in as the new addition most of the team has played for all three coach's some of us have played for all three for as many a four seasons we are glad to have Trevor on board with coaching staff this year along with his family who are solid supporters of the team and the all the kids on the field. This would also include Darren and Lances families as well they all three bring to the table knowledge and respect for the game and boy's and there families . Trevor was involved with the Team last season midway when His son Tanner was moved up from minor A to major's though he had to split duties being head coach for milestones last season .

Major Jamboree

Another baseball season has commenced. Practices starting one week ago have gone well wind being the only factor in the first two practices Old man weather decided to give us a break and it has been awesome all week. Major jamboree was played Saturday Team Seco playing at 8Am and about 9:30 Am. The boys were very impressive winning both games against Apollo and Overturf. The team was able to get key outs key hits and our pitching was stellar. Core players from last year returning have been excellent. The New additions have been a huge breath of fresh air, all of the new players have come to play and have shown this in practices and the two short games we have played. Cannot say enough good things about the attitude and skills of the new players along with the returning group. We look to have a competitive team this year.

Anyone having worries about field prep just talk to those of us who been doing it for a while we can jump in help you out it gets done much quicker when there is help rather than being by yourself coach's need to be prepping the team not the field.
Notice the pictures on the left they are embedded albums you can open the album and right click on the photos and choose to save as to a folder or copy and then paste to a folder on your computer to do with as you wish I will try to take some better photos in the future anyone who has any game pictures I can post them in this albums also if you can get them to me on disk I would like to have largest photos you can take the bigger the better.
