The End Has Come

Team Seco was knocked out of the intercity tournament on Friday evening by Kania Clinic. Great run these kids had this year with combined total of 30 wins and 5 losses which takes into account the intercity tournament and the Pendelton Baseball Classic. They concluded the regular season 23-2 winning there last game of the  season against Overturf by a margin of 5-4 sealing the KNYB Majors Division Championship for the Team. They were also the Hit-A-Thon top seller in the Majors Division. Awesome group of kids and parents cannot say enough about the help the parents were with the fields and other things from the Hit-A-Thon to practices to the hats and jackets other assorted things that went on during the season. The Coaching staff was and is excellent helping to get this team ready before the season and keeping them on track during the season. Great job by the staff Team Mom for all the email and hard work behind the scenes to keep it all going and always keeping us informed on what was coming way before it was happening. I have been assembling a dvd slideshow of the season and should have it ready this coming week for those who don't see I will contact you on how to get it to you. Last the season ending party how good was that the bats for the kids were awesome and how hard can Anne Tanninen work? Big thanks to Anne and the other ladies for a well planned party with awesome food and treats. Thanks to a great baseball season this will be the last entry here the blog will stay up and the photos also will stay accessible for now if that changes I will email you before that changes. I will be updating the photos this week with last of them from the tournament and party. You can keep up with 12 all stars at http://knallstar12u.blogspot.com/

Seco Vs Kania

Second time against this team the first game ended in a 2-1 loss in 7 innings on Monday. We need to get the win tonight to move on and be able to play Overturf twice in the championship Saturday. Overturf took Kania out in 8 innings last night. So let's play tight like last night put the bat on the ball and get the job done Team Seco.

Seco 3 KCFCU 0

WOW awesome game tonight just a stellar job by all the team to keep it together and get the lead and hold it shutting out one of the best teams at KA and eliminating them from the tournament cannot say enough about how solid this team was on the field tonight to get a lead and hold it. Onto Kania who lost to overturf in extra inning's tonight.
Game time 5:00pm pregame at West gate 4:00pm. We are home Again though they did flip a coin tonight and we ended up visitor's.

SECO VS KCFCU

KCFCU took out Sullivan Rowell tonight so they will be the team to beat tomorrow. Let's show them what Seco baseball is all about and get the win. go Team Seco
Game time 7:15pm Pregame 6:15 pm at west gate we are the home team and we are on KN1 the majors field.

Seco 10 Firefighters 7

Team Seco pulled this one out after being behind twice in the game. The boy's played through it kept there heads up and found a way to win. team Seco started it of with 1-0 lead which would dissipate quickly soon we found ourselves down by about 5-1 but we would come back to tie it at 5-5. Jordan came in to take over the duties on the mound in the second and did a excellent job helping to get some outs and keep it close. Soon we saw firefighters up 7-5 again though Jake reached safely and to second on a errant throw to first Taylor hit a sac fly to bring it to 7-6 David would reach base safely to see Hayden step up and hit a blast over the center field fence 10-7 Seco and that was all she wrote for that one. On to the winner of KCFCU and Sullivan Rowell that were not able to play last night due to field issues and games having been changed due to weather related problems. so they play tonight. Our next game would be Thursday 6/5 at 7;15 pm at KN1.

Seco Vs Firefighters

Team Seco needs to come out and light a fire tonight let us get the bats rolling early.
game time 5pm at KA1 pregame will be at KA fields at 4pm

Seco 1 Kania Clinic 2

Well if you were not there you missed a dandy that was simply a pitchers duel between David, Taylor and Hayden figured in the extra frame. Both teams pitching had batters reeling at the plate. Finally in the bottom of the fourth Taylor doubled to eventually score the first run of the game. The lead would be short lived though as Kania came up in the top of the fifth to tie the score at one with a runner on first one out and a tie score Kania hit a deep fly to center caught by David and checking the runner at first he throws a perfect strike to Hayden who held on the get the runner before he could return to the base ending the inning. Team Seco had a chance to win in the bottom of the sixth but it was not to be extras frames were needed and Kania would eventually score during the tie breaker.

Seco Vs Kania Clinic

This will be the third round in the winners bracket in the intercity tournament. We staved of the loss on Saturday and will look to get another win Monday.
Game time 7:15pm Pregame warm up at West gate 6:15pm We will be home team as we are
the higher seed. We are at KN1 on the major field. One other note I updated the brackets on the schedule I have saved based on what I saw at the field today. Sullivan Rowell took out the first seed at KA which was KCFCU they are now in the losers bracket while Sullivan will play Overturf Monday. 8 Teams remain in the majors bracket 4-KA 4-KN the difference being the KN teams except Apollo are all in the winners bracket good job KN. Overturf took down Zips and they were eliminated in the losers bracket. They were a third seed at KA. So anything can happen. As in our fourth seed in Sullivan Rowell taking out the first seed KCFCU. Let us hope to see a ready and heads up Team Seco tomorrow lets look like the Team that took care of business this season. Go Team Seco

Seco 7 muellers 5

A bit of of a gut checker for Team Seco in this one. The start was quick for Team Seco David sent the side back to there dugout with no rewards and as soon as Jake stepped in the second pitch was sent over the center field fence, David stepped in and followed with a shot over the right field fence.By the fourth Team Seco had managed 4 runs and Mueller's 1 the top of the fourth brought a bit of a change as Mueller's began to pick away at the lead and soon had it at 5-4. the bottom of the fourth saw the bases loaded two outs two strikes with Taylor at the plate he lines it to the fence for a two run double shifting the lead to Team Seco at 6-5 Seco would put up one more 7-5 and Taylor would close the game to shut down Mueller's in the fifth and the sixth. On to Monday's game with Kania Clinic who beat Apollo Saturday.

Seco Vs Muellers

This the second round in the winners bracket and yes we want to stay here. So here's to the Team getting it done quickly to come and show what Seco baseball is all about.
Game time 9am pregame warm up at west gate 8am. We will be home team as we are the higher seed. So any help with the field is appreciated.

Coach's Notes

Team –

There will be practice tomorrow from 5pm to 7pm at Sunset View Elementary (on Columbia Center Parkway – a couple blocks south of Carmike Cinemas). The next game is 9am at the KN Major Field (pre-game at 8am).

Also, I forgot to mention to the kids that I will not be at the game on Saturday. I made a commitment several weeks ago to take Brayden on an overnight trip where we get to spend the night at the Portland zoo. It is a unique opportunity that we couldn’t pass up. Obviously, I made the commitment without knowing what the city tournament schedule would look like. I rolled the dice and lost – which is why I don’t gamble. Anyway, I just wanted you to know the circumstances.

Thanks

Lance

Seco 11 Pepsi 1

Team Seco came through again winning there first game by a margin of 10 ending the game in the bottom of the fifth inning. The saw excellent pitching through out and key hits including a very welcomed homerun in the first by Nick his second of the season to score 3 runs with many hits in between ending with a hit through short to end the game by Eric. There were also some excellent defensive plays on bases where catchers through out the opponent on attempts to steal a base very nice throw down by Tanner and a good glove by Jordan to get the out later Nick would follow with another good throw and fine tag by Cleveland to get the out at second again both ended the inning. Nice Job Team Seco. Next game Saturday 9:00 am at KN1 we will know who we play after tomorrow evening game between Mueller and Larsen which is being played at the KA fields at 5pm Thursday.

Seco Vs Pepsi

The intercity tournament begins for us tonight. We are bracketed as the One seed from kn pitting us against the Ka9 seed which is Pepsi but as the coach's noted last night at practice it is a new season we all have 0-0 records. Team Seco needs to come out with the same fervor that was evident in the regular season and get the the job done.

Game time 7:15pm pregame warm up 6:15pm at Westgate. We are the home team. Who's on the field? Anyone who can help would be appreciated as it has all season .

Pendelton Baseball Classic

Great weekend of baseball I was up near Newport with Lance at a Men's Retreat so we were not able to attend Saturday but we made it back for Sunday. First game in the pool play was against LeGrande Team Seco 10 Legrande 0. This may have provided a bit more competition as the final was Team Seco 3 baker City 2. Sundays first match up was the Spokane Warriors which ended in a Team Seco win 5-1 so we were 3-0 in pool play and would then play at 3pm against the number two seed in the other 12u pool which was Moses Lake Rivercats Team Seco would not finish this one on top but played well none the less. Homeruns in this tournament by David and Taylor excellent hitting and pitching provided a great weekend of baseball. We fared very well considering we were eleven and twelve year olds playing against all twelve year old teams some all star some select. It is always exciting for the players to play teams from different areas that we don't see during the season. If you have not already done it thanks the coach's for the weekend it takes a lot of time and effort to coordinate these weekend tournaments so thanks to the coach's for the huge effort they have put out all season long. Next up the inter city tournament. Go Team Seco.

Hot!

That is the forecast for ths weekend's upcoming temperature's. Have your player start putting lots of fluids away today and come prepared tomorrow in Pendelton for the warmest temp's of the year.

Seco 5 Overturf 4

Team Seco gets the crown! What a nail biter this was as all the games but one game between these two would be decided by one run. Team Seco struck first for a run in the first but that would be short lived as Overturf tied it. Team Seco then went up 2-1 only to have Overturf go ahead 3-2. In the next frame with two on Hayden drove a pitch deep over the fence to put Team Seco up 5-3 Overturf would threaten putting up one more with the score 5-4 Team Seco would weather the storm to hold on and get the win. Both teams provided excellent pitching and fielding. In the sixth Overturf pitching struck out the side to give themselves a chance Taylor would strike out the side also which included Overturf's number one and two hitters leaving there premier power hitter watching from the on deck circle. What a series of games these were with these two and what a way to end the Major season than to take first place in a game like this. This team has worked hard during the season and this past winter to earn the first place finish.

Seco Vs Overturf

It all comes down to this one these two teams are 2-2 with Team Seco taking the last one. The Major Division is up for grabs tonight. Both Teams have played well all season and they have certainly played well against each other.
Only one game has been been decided by more than a run. One thing though win or lose this has been one great season for Team Seco the hard work from the coach's the parents and especially the players who worked all winter to be ready has shown itself all season in games and practices. The season is far from over this maybe the last of the KNYB major division for us but we still have Pendelton tournament and the Intercity tournament to play where this team has a legitimate shot at winning both Go Team Seco.
Game time 7:15 pm Pregame warm up 6:15 pm we are visitors in this one and Wood has the field.

Seco 17 Larsen Transfer 2

Team Seco finished the series 5-0. Team Seco would strike first and by the time the top of the third was over 17 runs were on the board Larsen transfer would get two runs in the fourth but that was all they could muster in this four inning affair. Team Seco would again bat through the lineup and then some. Hayden and David were both intentionally walked in the first but Hayden's next at bat would see him come to the plate with the bases loaded and doughnuts on the score board. They chose to pitch to him and he made them pay with a grand slam home run that was the hardest hit ball I have ever seen at this level of baseball. David would also hit a bases clearing double in this one. the bats were hot and the pitching from Taylor, Hayden, Jordan and Jacob was excellent. On to tonight's game.

The pizza party went well with the weather cooperating the team had a lot of fun and pizza and goodies. Good job with the Hit-A-Thon Team Seco

Seco 14 Larsen 1

Too much to say here had nine players today due to three players being out of town. Larsen was on the board first scoring one run but that was all she wrote Larsen was not able to get into scoring position again. David pitched well and Jordan came in and pitched two very good innings keeping Larsen from providing any offense. Team Seco had the hot bat tonight home runs from Hayden and David and the rest of the team just provided hit after hit. to keep the game a ten run affair. good job Team Seco.

Hit-A-Thon Pizza Party

Hi everyone,

We will be having our Pizza Party right after the game on Saturday. I will be ordering pizza from Little Caesars – I will get as much pizza as $100 can buy! The boys wanted quantity instead of quality Although, I’ve never had Little Caesars pizza – it could be good too!

Anyway, we will meet at the Highland Grange Park by the Library. Please bring chairs or blankets (we may not get there early enough to snag picnic tables…) and BYOB – bring your own beverage If anyone wants to add to the pizza with side dishes (salads etc.), you are welcome to bring it. I am assuming that there should be enough pizza for families too…

You might want to bring some outdoor toys for the boys – tennis rackets & balls, basketballs etc… There are bathrooms there for the boys to change out of their uniform too.

Seco 10 Larsen Transfer 6

Team Seco gets it done. this was a tight game for a while seeing Larsen Transfer get on the board first. Team Seco would not be denied and soon had the lead. Larsen came back and took the lead with a grand slam home run. soon after though Team Seco would take the lead and not look back. This was the first of three consecutive meetings between these two.

Seco 14 Sullivan Rowell 8

What a game this was. Team Seco would get on the board early with a nice three run homer by Nick his first of the year soon after David blasted one over the right field fence and Jaden Green hit a bomb over the left center for his first of the year. Sullivan Rowell would not be denied and soon had come within one. Team Seco answered with multiple hits through out the lineup and soon had a commanding lead. Sullivan Rowell threatened a bit in the bottom of the sixth but Team Seco closed out the game nipping the possible comeback.

Seco Vs Sullivan Rowell

The last time these two teams met they went into a seventh inning with Seco getting the win it was a tight game and well played and excellent pitching from both teams. Heads up play from both teams made it a great game from the homer that Hayden hit to tie the game to the heads up base running by Taylor to win it in the seventh. Hope to see Team Seco bats light up early and hope to see another Team Seco win.

Seco 9 Apollo 2

Another fine performance by Team Seco. Apollo would get on the board first leading 1-0 but team Seco would not be denied putting up runs in the first second and third innings. Team Seco never looked back and continued to put up runs through the fifth. the Teams bats were hot with key hits when needed excellent base running and some stellar plays defensively and excellent pitching throughout. This was the final meeting between these two as was Gesa the other night Team Seco is 5-0 against both of these teams. We will move on to Sullivan Rowell wednesday.

Seco 5 Overturf 4

Another tight one Team Seco was on the board early at 1-0.David had a nice outing keeping the Overturf batters in check. Overturf was on the board in the third scoring three but Team Seco would not be denied with Ryan and Cleveland getting base hits at the right time Jacob who had a ball go off his hand behind the plate spanks a ball over the right field fence to put the score at 4-3 next up Taylor who drives the first pitch over the center field fence putting Seco up 5-3 and that would be all that was needed Overturf added one more in the fifth but it was just not enough.
Taylor finished the game from the mound. Key hits by the team scored the runs just when it looked like we may out of it the Team rallied Offensively and from the mound to shut the Overturf offense down great job guys.

Hit-A-Thon Winners

Team Seco won the pizza party for being the top team selling cards in the major division good job guy's also Ryan Blake won a hundred dollar gift cert in the raffle nice.

Seco 4 Sullivan Rowell 3

Team Seco had to battle in this one very good game by both teams. Sullivan Rowell was on the board first leading 1-0. Did not last long as Hayden hit another bomb over the center field fence to tie it at one apiece. David added a run on a nice line drive, Tanner next battled at the plate to hit a nice one off the fence scoring another run score was now 3 to 1 Seco. Later Sullivan Rowell would not be denied and knotted it at three apiece. Sullivan Rowell attempted to steal third with the running run a good throw by tanner and a solid tag by Jacob the runner was out Hayden retired the next batter to send it to extra innings. Jacob came in and retired the side sending us to the plate for the bottom of the seventh Taylor had stolen third and on a errant throw by the catcher to pick off Taylor he scored and Seco wins the game nice gut check win here. Good job guys keep it going against Overturf Monday.

Seco 15 Apollo 0

The trend continues. David started the game throwing two very solid innings shutting down Apollo. Team Seco did not waste any time getting on the board and it was 6-0 before long Apollo sent four pitchers to the mound but could not shut Seco down. Taylor came in next to continue the shutout blanking the Apollo players at the plate. Team Seco bats continued to thrive into the fifth where the team went up 15-0. Hayden came in to finish the game preserving the shutout. Great job Team Seco.

Seco Vs Apollo

Players of the week for April 14th

Ryan Blake and Cleveland Simmelink get the honors this week. Both players had key hits contributing both offensively and defensively. These two have great attitudes and are always up to the task and behind the team. Congrats to them both they deserve it.
From left front to back Ryan Blake, Cleveland Simmelink, Braydon Vickerman, Coach's Burris and Coach Vickerman.

Seco 14 Gesa 2

Team Seco started off a bit on the slow side from the plate seeing Gesa go up 2-0 in the first but that was all that was allowed. Jacob, Hayden and Taylor all had nice outings from the mound shutting down Gesa and getting out of some tight spots with key outs when needed. Team Seco finally was on the board about the third score tied at 2 when a Gesa player was fielding a high pop fly and the ball went off his forehead he was down for a bit but the coach's and parents were at his side soon he was up and in the dugout with some ice for his head. Team Seco went up 4-2 at this point. The game was blown open by a 3 run home run by David, a few more runs added after this seemed at this point the game was now out of reach a bit later in the fifth Taylor crushed a grand slam to put the score up to 14 -2 ending it there as the ten run rule goes into effect. Nice job Team Seco.

· Pendleton Tournament – It appears that this is a go. Please be prepared to provide money to either Trevor or Darren at tomorrow’s game. Efforts are underway to get our concession duty moved.
· KN Work Party – There is a KN Work Party this Sunday (4/27) from 1-5pm. It makes the day go much shorter when there’s a good turnout. Please spread the word to other KN parents.
· Mowing Schedule – We will be responsible for mowing the major field on May 5, 7, and 9. If you are interested in mowing, please let me know.
Thanks Lance

Seco 24 Larsen Transfer 0

Total difference from last night's game. It looked like all the cylinders were firing and the team never let up until it was over. Starting with a solid pitching performance by Jacob and a play where the ball was relayed from right field to Eric who was at short covering second a quick throw to third to get the advancing runner seem to set the tone for the rest of the game. No more runners made it to scoring position and I believe everyone who went to the plate hit the ball hard some where. Taylor closed out the game in fine fashion preserving the shutout. Excellent outing for team Seco and they played to there capabilities. One other thing Overturf lost to Sullivan Rowell today putting us back in a tie for first place. Great team effort today by Team Seco. For those who were not there the Coach's did a very good job not running up the score by not pushing the runners to advance unless necessary after they could see the game was out of reach.

Seco Vs Larsen Transfer

Game time 11:00 am we are home team Smith has the field pregame would be 10:00 am or right after pictures which ever the coach's decide.

Pictures

Remember Pictures this morning and to be there by 9:15 am that is at west gate.

Seco 3 Overturf 4

Not a lot to cover here very tight game which saw both teams get on the board early and score just stayed. Team Seco had its chances just did not capitalize with runners in scoring position. Onto the next game and will look for better results.

Seco Vs Overturf

The first meeting between these two saw Seco go down three to two after nine innings of play. Seco came back in the second affair to shutout Overturf 6 to 0. Seco and Overturf are the two top teams in the major division as of right now. This should be a great match up between these two. Game time 7:15 pm pregame warm up 6:15 pm at westgate be prepared it maybe a cool one tomorrow evening. We are visitors in this one Smiley has the field after the game.

Seco 3 Vs Apollo 1

Cold night and cold bats was the scene at the field last night Seco was able to generate enough to get the job done though. The base coach's did a nice job moving the runners to score couple of the runs since there was only three runs I would say they got the job done tonight. Pitching was well done by David, Taylor and Hayden who also hit a nice double. Our pitching staff did a excellent job getting key outs when we needed them most. The Pitching staff definitely kept us in the game and Apollo off the bases. Next game Friday 7:15 pm Vs Overturf. The weather is predicted to be colder than last night so check it before the game so you can come prepared both parents and player. There will also be practice on Thursday 4:15 pm at yelm park. No Practice Wednesday. The coach's asked the players to work on something in there game at home on Wednesday maybe a trip to the cages or some soft toss or dry swings, tee work there are lots of things you can work on at home with your player to better his game hey and it is fun to boot.

Seco Vs Apollo

This will be the third meeting between these two Seco winning the two games respectively.
Tuesday 4/15/08 Game time 7:15 pm Pregame warm up at west gate is 6:15 pm.
We are the home team and Simmelink has the field duty.

Practice Today

Practice Monday 04/14/08 4:15 pm to 6:15 pm Yelm park
Hope we all had a nice spring break. The weather was sure excellent. Now it's back to baseball and time to get the team refocused for the three games we have this week. Starting with Apollo Tuesday, Overturf on Friday and Larsen on Saturday. One thing to start thinking about is with warmer weather on the way, is to remember to have your player drink enough fluids before the games so they don't dehydrate. They need to prepare for this by drinking lots of fluids the day before and the day of the games not just drink fluids during the games.

Practices and Mowing

Practices over Spring Break -- Originally, I had planned on having practice during the day over Spring Break. However, that isn’t going to work for me now. Therefore, we will have practice from 4:30-6:00 at Yelm Park Monday through Thursday next week. However, I won’t be there on Thursday. If someone else beats us to the field, we may have to go to an alternate location (maybe Batter’s Box).
· Mowing Schedule – Next week is our team’s turn to mow the fields on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. If anyone has a burning desire to mow the fields, please let me know. Otherwise, I think the coaches can cover most of it.

Seco 6 Gesa 1

Whew! Team Seco found their way out of this one. Not one our better games but pitching was good we just could not muster anything at the plate with runners in scoring position. There were a few triples and doubles tonight some were able to stretch out a single but just wasn't the same Team Seco at the plate we have seen in the past. Jacob had a nice homer to left center on the night. Maybe the week off of games and the extra practice's next week will give the Team time to refocus on some needed discipline's. Need to give Gesa credit also they came to play and never let up until it was over. Tanner recorded the last out as Taylor popped up the last Gesa batter.

WALMART FRIDAY HIT A THON SALES APRIL 4TH

Walmart was not available for any weekends to sell hit a thon cards but we were able to reserve Friday, April 4th. There are 2 main doors, so I’m hoping that we could split up the team. I am also thinking about having each player sell their own cards this time and taking turns on approaching people. That way each player gets a chance to sell Let me know if your player will not be able to be there. We will meet at Walmart at 4:00. I imagine that we’d be done by 7:00. We will need at least 1 parent (or coach) at each door (if we are able to sell in 2 locations) to help encourage the boys to sell and to make sure they are taking turns please have the boys wear their team jersey, jacket and hat. If you need more cards, let me know asap – I don’t have any on hand right now. If there are people out there that cannot sell what they have and feel that they won’t be able to sell them all at Walmart or after, please let me know and you can turn them in for others to use asap.

The last meeting between these two was like playing in the artic looks like that has passed and the weather will be cooperating for the evening. game time is 7:15 pm pregame is 6:15 pm at westgate. On field duty is Marshall we are visitors so we should not need prep before game only after.

Seco 11 Sullivan Rowell 1

Great game Team Seco and focused they were David and Taylor both pitched well to keep Sullivan Rowell from getting anything started at the plate. The bats were hot from the start for Team Seco putting up 4 in the first and they never looked back four doubles in the second one a very solid hit from Ryan Blake which was a very nice double. Hits came from top to the bottom of the order. Hayden hit a bomb that truly went yard as it cleared the street and went into the west gate school yard. This team has been getting contributions from all the players young and old all over the field it is great to see. Let's keep it Going into tomorrow night. I would like to thank Jeff Green for doing the field pregame even though we were visitors and those who stayed to help at games end.

Seco Vs Sullivan Rowell

This will be the third regular season meeting between these two. So far Team Seco has fared well and won both games. Looks like the weather will cooperate and we could a fine evening for baseball that doesn't include wind snow and space heaters.

Seco 6 Overturf 0

The bats were hot enough to tame the wind tonight. The evening turned out to be quite nice for a ball game. David started the game and pitched four very strong innings keeping the Overturf batters baffled at the plate and off the base pads. Team Seco bats started early putting two runs up on the board in the first and they never looked back key hits through out the line up continued to put runs on the board. Taylor came in in the fifth inning and continued the strong pitching performance David started both finished the game with out giving up a run. Small threat in the fifth to steal second Jake made a nice throw down to second to Eric to get the runner. On a pick off at first the ball got by the first baseman but Cleveland was there coming in from right field to back up the play and keep the runner on. The game ended when a runner on third was caught between third and home and was run down and tagged by Nick for the third out of the inning. Team seco was able to preserve the shutout. The game was a well played game by Team Seco both from the plate on the mound and defensively. "Good job Team Seco"

Seco vs Overturf Game 2

Game time 5:45 pm pregame warm up 4:45 pm at west gate. We are the home team tonight Ebberts is on field duty anything you can do to help is appreciated. There has been quite a few parents jumping in to help and that has been awesome. The last game between these two teams saw us play six innings and three tie breaker innings. The last game had somewhat of a pitching duel. What to look for tonight ? Team Seco to have HOT BATS early nothing makes the dugout warmer than a team of HOT BATS. "Go Team Seco"
